I have a 2018 civic si and it would not start on an extremely hot Florida Day. It started after 2 hours sitting and all was ok except the P0087 code. search results confirms fuel rail/system pressure is too low.
What is important to realize is this code is a generic low fuel rail code, that is it’s the same on alot of vehicles. Breaking down the issue requires understanding the other conditions that might be present. Reading posts on others dealing with the issue helps but there are to many variables. First reading a manual and understanding the complete system is in order, or you can just throw parts at it. My issue is this was a one time occurrence, plus there is history with bad fuel pumps on the SI. See how you can get caught not doing your home work, there are 2 fuel pumps in the system. This is my point, you have to do your research before you get started 2 years, 10 months ago

This was a frustrating journey. The code reader said cam driven fuel pump. I foolishly purchased one from amazon cause it said it was inspected and it was only 100 bucks. It produced a hard start then complete failure after 3 days. New mechanical pump (not Honda brand) and the car worked for 8 days then same issue, low fuel rail pressure. I posted the fix on my fixit.localad.com site, it turned out to be the electric pump in the tank, the one that honda refuses to recall. What a shit show to change it and the end product was with an after market pump from autozone. Why would I put a BS honda pump back in?
