BEWARE OF YOUR CHURCH!
“You make the prefect point sola scriptura can push to seeking “expert” help (the Pope)”No, that is not the point I am making, but actually just the opposite.
Sola scriptura was used to REJECT the Catholic Church’s dependency on the Pope, and to state everything we need to know about God is contained in the Scriptures, without need of a human authority.
There is some truth to that, but when you deny the spiritual power of God that is needed through the Holy Spirit to properly understand the Scriptures, then you basically end right back to the original problem, which is that because this theology denies God’s power, those who have a greater knowledge of the Bible with academic degrees and such, are looked to as “authorities” in the church, such as the unbiblical title of “Pastor,” which then can be used to deceive the masses.
But as I wrote, Satan probably knows the text of the Bible better than most, or all, human beings, but it will do him no good in the final judgment.
The Spirit of God allows us to commune and communicate with the Creator of the world directly, with no intermediary between us, except the one who already exists, Jesus Christ, the permanent High Priest.
And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath, but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever.’”
Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever. (Hebrews 7:20-28)
